Blue doesn’t make a sound

An intimate and personal exploration, Blue doesn’t make a sound combines self-portraits, interiors and images made in nature created in cyanotype. From the studio to solitary walks, my photographic practice is instinctive, built from encounters and fortuitous moments. Images emerge at the crossroad of wandering and introspection.

This series was born out of my desire to explore an inner world, to give free rein to my imagination and to open a door to the unconscious. If intimacy rhymes with quietude, stillness and reflection, introspection and contemplation are also an invitation to sudden appearances, leaps and surprises. Inhabited by furtive presences, memories, and projections, the images in this series come to life. Blue doesn’t make a sound evokes a profound and authentic intimacy where emotions are laid bare and senses are awakened. A deeply tactile series, videos and digital photographs are captured digitally to be printed in cyanotype, whose materiality embodies images and feelings. The dense and hypnotic Prussian blue is a powerful presence, further accentuating the depth of perceptions and the contemplative aspect of this work.

This photographic series goes beyond the still image by offering a multimedia experience with cyanotype prints, pre-pasted images, video loops and large swaths of flowing cyanotype on fabric, to create an immersive experience and allow the viewer to enter more fully into this universe. Blue doesn’t make a sound is an ode to intimacy, contemplation and artistic sensitivity, transporting us into a realm where our own imagination is sparked.
